ShelterBoxes
ShelterBoxes are distributed to disaster areas world-wide with each box containing a ten-person dome tent, 10 thermal blankets, tools and other survival equipment. The need for ShelterBoxes has far outstripped the ability of groups such as ours to fund them. Thus far, the boxes have helped over 600,000 people after 70 disasters in 46 countries, including recent victims of the bushfires in Victoria, Australia.
RAWCS
In 2010, a group of club members traveled to Tanna island a Small island in Vanuatu. The members stayed with locals for 2 weeks, during this time they helped locals repair schools. Everything from painting and cleaning, to replacing roofing and storm shutters. The trip was a fantastic experience, helping out the locals, trying their traditional food and helping them to learn new skills.
ORK
The Orphan Rescue Kit is a project that orginated in Coolamon. You can build your own kit to help the survival of orphans in Africa.
Pistis Academy
Jan Malone has been integral to the growth and maintence of the Pistis Academy in Nakuru, Kenya. On her last visit she raised funds to provide books for the school library, introduce a variety of nutrional foods into the orphans’ diet, build an outside shelter area and other important projects. This trip she will endeavour to provide electricity to older parts of the school and set up a program that will allow students to have a nutrionally-balanced diet even after she returns to Australia.
