Our Past Projects

RYDA

Members helped supervise Year 11 students from the local area as they participated in a program designed to raise driver awareness. Representatives from police, ambulance and other community interest groups were on hand to educate students of the dangers on the road in an effort to encourage younger drivers to drive responsibly.

BBQ Breakfast for Participants of The Great Escape

We were up bright and early on a cold, wet morning on the 13th of October, 2009 to cook nearly 200 egg and bacon burgers for the admirable participants of The Great Escape. This charity motoring event started in Wagga and ended in Port Macquarie with the aim of raising awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and funds for research. For more information, click here.

BBQ for “Taking the Taboo Out of Talking”

On a gorgeously sunny spring day in October 2009 we provided a sausage sizzle for concert-goers and band members at the “Taking the Taboo Out of Talking” event at the Wagga Botanic Garden’s Music Bowl. This free concert event was organised by Headspace as part of Mental Health Week in an effort to promote awareness of issues such as depression in young people.

Tenth Annual Justice of the Peace Conference BBQ

On the 16th of August we catered breakfast for the Justice of the Peace conference. It was an opportunity to test out our new BBQ and meet interesting people from all over NSW. As everyone came back for seconds we can count it a huge success!

Clean-up Day

It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it! Luckily we have some great members who turned out on a sunny day in August to clean up the area around the North Wagga Flats. clean-up-day.jpg

Beautifying Gardens at the Museum of the Riverina

In May 2009 we helped staff from the Botanic Gardens plant shrubs and groundcovers around the front of the Museum. Our goal was to encourage bird life and create a relaxing area where members of our community and visitors to our region may enjoy the sights of our beautiful city. The plants are thriving and are a fantastic back-drop to the stunning bronze crow statues that are a feature of the garden.
